21 mins: Fierce Action as Each Side Compete

21st minute: Brisbane advance to the midfield and nearly break through the opposition defense through Reece Walsh and Gehamat Shibasaki on the left side. A further superb delivery from Reynolds on the final play keeps the Broncos' pressure. For three tackles they remain in control, but a couple of offloads free the rapid Jahrome Hughes, and when he's brought down on the defensive 40m line, a six-again is given for holding down. Melbourne are finding their flow, and Warbrick slices through the line, followed by Xavier Coates making a dash – only for Reece Walsh to catch him high with a shoulder charge! Is that a sin-binning? Not according to the referee, says Grant Atkins, because Coates was buckling. The fullback is under review regardless, and the Storm continue their onslaught.

19 mins: Cameron Munster Leads Melbourne Attack

19 mins: Munster is busy as Melbourne move quickly down to their attacking 30m line. Down the right, Hughes lofts a kick, Katoa sprints forward, but in the aerial battle, the second-rower knocks on, and the Broncos at last get a respite.

18 mins: Melbourne Exert Force on Brisbane

18th minute: Melbourne perform a perfect set from the kickoff and apply plenty of pressure on Deine Mariner with the final kick. Again, the Brisbane fail to reach near halfway in reply, and Adam Reynolds is compelled to boot it deep to keep his team in touch.

17 mins: Setback for Storm

17th minute: It’s not all good news for Melbourne. Jack Howarth has been subbed out due to a groin issue. Tyran Wishart is on in his position.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Melbourne 12-6 Brisbane (Katoa, 15)

Brilliant, just brilliant. After back-to-back restarts, Brisbane are tiring. From tackle three near the try line on the left side, Melbourne send the ball inside for two passes before Hughes drops the ball onto his toe and the charging Katoa times his run perfectly to dive on the bobbling ball and stand to celebrate his team’s second try!

From just to the right of the posts, Nick Meaney kicks his second conversion.

12th Minute: Melbourne Display Thrilling Offense

12 mins: Melbourne appear thrilling in attack. They have pace from the ruck, grunt from the pack, and crisp hands from the outside players. A dangerous attack ends with a high kick to the left side that is knocked on by Reece Walsh and results in a penalty to the Storm for an obstruction on Xavier Coates. Melbourne reject the penalty goal and get to work near the goalposts. They get a set restart – and another – as Munster dances left and right.

10 mins: Tense Action

10 mins: Utokiamanu has lived up to his word from the start and his run from the restart allows Harry Grant, then Ryan Papenhuyzen, to dart from dummy-half. Jahrome Hughes kicks from 40 meters and Walsh catches the bomb on his 10-meter line. The Broncos show reduced thrust this drive and get fortunate on the final play when Ben Hunt's pass to Reynolds goes to ground. Not to worry, the experienced playmaker delivers a great kick to force Xavier Coates to retreat and makes the Storm winger to run from his try line. The Brisbane are too eager with their chase, hitting the winger high, and Storm can kick for attacking field position.

CONVERTED TRY! Melbourne 6-6 Broncos (Nick Meaney, 8)

After the scrum, Utoikamanu powers forward to the 20m line. Next, from quick ball from the play-the-ball, every key Storm player get a touch as they move it out to the right edge until Nick Meaney straightens up, runs at an angle at serious pace, and breaks through a weak defensive line to dive over for an instant reply!

The centre recovers to add the conversion. It's a tied game!

7th Minute: Both Sides Exchange Sets

7 mins: Both sides exchange cautious plays around midfield, but then the Brisbane look to expand on their left side, only to be unable to find Gehamat Shibasaki with the pass. William Warbrick advances quickly and forces a knock on for his efforts.

5 mins: Ideal Opening for Brisbane

5 mins: That is the absolute dream start for the Broncos, taking the lead before Melbourne have even touched the ball, in an attack dominated by both Haas and Reece Walsh. The Storm might be somewhat frustrated at Grant Atkins blowing such an quick infringement, but they were clearly breached by the blistering Brisbane offense.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Melbourne 0-6 Brisbane (Deine Mariner, 3)

Following a long kick, the Broncos begin their attack. Melbourne concede a six-again for offside, and quickly the ball is in the danger area. Where is Walsh? Waiting on the right edge, drawing in Jack Howarth, holding his position, then somehow passing to Mariner on his outside. The winger steps inside, reaches the line, then barely remains in the field of play as he moves to touchdown under the posts.

There’s a delay before Reynolds dabs over the conversion, but the video official confirms the referee's call. Accor Stadium is erupting to the sound of jubilant fans.

2 mins: Quick Infringement

2nd minute: Corey Jensen, not Haas, takes the initial carry of the night and the Storm are up sharply… but only a few plays later the Melbourne give away the first penalty of the night for Grant interfering with Payne Haas on the floor. The Broncos immediately in offensive mode.
